Wynn announces second Macau resort
Legoland owner Merlin Entertainments is reported to be in talks with Ladbrokes over joining the UK bookmaker’s bid to run a super-casino in Blackpool. The bid package also provisionally includes Hilton to be a hotel partner according to the UK’s Telegraph newspaper.
A spokesman for Ladbrokes cited in the paper, declined to comment on partners, but said: “We want to present the council with a full entertainments package, not just a gambling venue, which will allow full regeneration.”
Problem gambling charity Gamcare, said it did not have a problem with a children’s theme park being sited next to a giant casino, adding that if it could only be a good thing if it provided a distraction from the gambling.
The proposed 23-acre site for the super-casino development, located on Blackpool’s Golden Mile, is partly owned by leisure magnate Trevor Hemmings, who leases another local site to Merlin’s Sea Life centre, giving the company strong ties with the bid.
